Officials: Fire in Zion National Park contained



Firefighters are monitoring a southern Utah wildfire in Zion National Park that they say has been 100 percent contained over the weekend.

First reports of the lightning-sparked Herbs Fire came Sept. 3. Officials say they contained the 195-acre blaze Saturday.

It is still burning on Herbs Point, an isolated mesa in a remote part of the Kolob Canyons area of the park, east of Interstate 15.

The wildfire is burning oak brush, pinyon-juniper and conifers.

No structures were threatened, but a nearby campsite is closed for safety.
