For all of you involved regularly with specs and manufacturing:
What are most apparatus manufacturers and shops using as their standard thickness aluminum for adjustable hosebed dividers? Do any of the manufacturers offer an option for an upgrade or downgrade in thickness, and/or is there a certain divider height (e.g. hosebed taller than 18") at which they automatically chose the thicker material?
Any information on current and (recent) past practices is helpful. Thanks.
Standard dividers are 1/4" thick with wider supports on the bottom and rear to screw into the wall and floor. I'm sure any manufacturer could make them thicker if you asked.
You can also having split tubing installed on the top and rear edge to stiffen it.
They should be 1/4" and hand hold cut-outs at the rear are good too.
Okay, thanks for the replies. All of our hosebed dividers previously have been 1/4", but I'd never given it much thought, because it appeared to be standard. We just had an additional divider added to one of our engines at a local dealer, and after we loaded the LDH into it I noticed that it was badly warped from the weight of the 5". I decided to measure it and, sure enough, it was 3/16"!
Unfortunately I guess this is a "buyer beware" situation, and I should have known to specify the material thickness. I had never thought twice about it (other than the tubing that ffp mentions), so I just asked for "an adjustable hosebed divider".
Ours are 1/4". But I really like the idea of having the hand hold cut-outs. With the higher hose beds on the 1,000g tanks, they would work out really nice.Quote:

if your dividers have cutouts, remember to put the folds in the hose forward of the cutouts. otherwise the folds cover cutouts, making them useless.
