09-21-2011, 07:24 AM #2I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

some how you need to get a core group motivatied and they will motivate the other people
also, education, on why you are trying to get these things done

If you have people standing in the way, figure out why. Odds are you'll find jealosy and ego figure in. You may be butting in on their own self-importance.
If you can win over those whose opposition/resistance isn't based on the facts at hand, you're on your way. Otherwise, you'll just have to do like Fire49 says - build a core group and work on progress.
I'm betting the group as a whole has forgotten why they exist.Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.
Everyone goes home. Safety begins with you.

First of all, what is your position with the fire department.
the direction that the rest of this post will take could depend heavily on that. If you're an officer it's one thing. If your rank is FireFighter then are you working on projects given to you by the chief/officers or just doing what YOU think needs to be done?
