Awesome. I'm in florida now but have family in Alabama. I'm finishing up the academy down here in another month or so. Do you guys know what the process is for applying from out of state? Would I have to go through another academy for alabama? How is hiring in alabama because it's scarce in Florida.

Scarce here too brother. I'm in northern AL, outside of Decatur. We have some departments hiring but they're flooded with applications. But, what do you expect with this economy lol? Everyone is looking for a secure job. Applying out of state shouldnt be an issue as far as I know. Some departments will make you go through recruit school again, even if you have your FF I/II.

Are you IFSAC and/or ProBoard, Alabama Fire College will allow you to transfer over all certifications If you are IFSAC and/or ProBoard. Here is there number, Contact David Thornburg at 205-343-7402, He might not be the guy, But he has always helped me and I am sure he knows the guy. As for jobs...Well its tough here, The department I am in now has over 100 Apps from certified guys and we aren't even hiring. When jobs get posted you are looking at competing with 200+ guys for 1-10 spots. So best of luck man.

You could go to paramedic school. You would go from 300 guys going for 10 slots to more like 50. Hell in some places it would be more like 5 going after 10.

    Just a thought
    Bring enough hose.
