    Default Gresham, OR (NTN)

Just got the email that National Testing is working with Gresham, OR.

    https://nationaltestingnetwork.com/s...gencyjobid=202

Seems the City website is down. Anyone have any more information regarding if/when hiring and how many?

    Good Luck.

I read through their 2011 proposed budget and it looks like the fire department is receiving less money than last year so I don't know if they are just establishing a list or are actually going to hire people.

Gresham has been struggling for a couple years now. It's a great department (personal wise), just the city has been having some big time budget issues.

I received an email yesterday asking me to fill out the personal history questionnaire through the ntn website and the online city application.

Gresham Fire & Emergency Services Awarded $1 Million SAFER Grant

    Source: Gresham, OR
    Published: 07/12/2013 10:49 AM
Gresham Fire & Emergency Services has been awarded a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help the department keep firefighters on the front lines and maintain the City’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, fires, car accidents and other time-sensitive calls for service. For the next two years, the one-time funding – secured with significant help from Oregon’s Congressional Delegation – will fill six current vacancies that were caused by attrition. These are positions that the City previously had to leave vacant given its current funding challenges. At the same time, work continues to address the City’s longer-term revenue shortage caused by deficiencies of Oregon’s property tax system, since grants alone – even sizable ones – do not fully meet the needs of a population of more than 107,000 residents. The award of $1,003,740, confirmed by Homeland Security today, is through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s SAFER Program, which stands for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response.

I haven't heard anything back either. One of my friends got a rejection letter last week.
