I am having a problem with a Scott 2.2 air-Pak. Long story made short, I am trying change the batteries. However, after I put new batteries into the pack I wait for about 30 seconds, and the pack starts to make a constant high pitch squeal. The Pass activates after I add the batteries and it lets me turn it off, but then about 10-20 seconds later it starts to ring.
BTW, I have not even turned the air on when the pack starts. Pack was purged...
I am looking for thoughts, suggestions, ...
I looked through the manual at Scott and can not find trouble shooting guides. I did find where there is a specialist level maintenance training manual, but I can not find that online anywhere. Does anybody have a copy?
Thanks for the help,
Mike

When it comes to Scott electronics, you're at a factory service level or total replacement of the component. As was mentioned, it won't likely be cheap, as nothing related to an SCBA seems to be.

Did you recently get the console (on your shoulder) of the PASS device wet?
In my days as a Scott tech I found that the constant beep that you describe was most likely caused by water finding its way into the console portion of the component. We did have success on several units in removing the batteries and opening up the console to dry it out. However, we did end up replacing the vast majority of the consoles due to concerns of water damage even if we were able to get the unit to function again.
So to sum up a long story... it's a tech issue and more than likely a new console.I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.
