    I scheduled my test yesterday.

I asked the HR rep about the type of test and she infeered it would be a simple math/reading comp test.

Didn't ask how many got past the application process to the testing, but I got the impression it was a lot based on her comments regarding the hold time, call volume, and work load she was jut handed.

Be intresting to see what happens. Looks like a nice place to be.

I scheduled my test today. She told me that reading/math/mechincal type of question.
I don't have career time but I went to Fire Academy in Florida. Got my FF I and FF II certs.

I just scheduled my test for Saturday. Apparently they are hiring only 1 recruit. They're pretty much just establishing a list at this point.

Yup. Vol time, FFI, EMT-B, Hazmat Ops, Bach of Science. Moving on to take the DRCOG, I figure I won't really find out the what/why behind it.

But good luck to everybody else moving on in the process!

    ljm & ColoradoDave,

Do you have FFII? That might be the difference. According to the scheduling lady today, they only took 200 for the written and there are only going to be 40 going on to the physical.

If you can, get FFII. It's not much more than FFI. Hose testing, pre-planning, command, a couple of specialized fire things (which you probably already know anyway), extrication. Plus, when you get FFII, you don't have to keep doing all the FFI JPRs.

Our department runs an (almost) annual FFII academy that's mostly self-study with a few nights/Saturdays for skills sessions. Our academy for the year just started, so we won't run another for a while, but DM me if you want contact info for my training officer. He can tell you more about when we're going to run another academy.

I only have my FFI and moved on so that can't be the reason.

    Dave,
I've got my FF I/II (hazmat implied), D/O Pumper, D/O MWS,D/O ARFF, the actual ARFF cert, Inspector I/II, Instructor I/II, Officer I/II/II, Rescue Tech I, NR-EMT/B, my AAS in Fire Science, plus my military time.

Did someone mention on here they are only planning on hiring ONE person?

I anyone actually going to go up and test? I'm debating on if I should go or not. If they are only hiring one, I don't know if it would be worth the leave.

Maybe you're the ONE they hire, you'll never know unless you test. They will be having numerous retirements over the next two years so it should be a good list to be on.
