    Default Haz Mat Ops For Jrs.

    I just found out today Jrs. In PA 16 and older can get hazmat ops. Source: http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal...e_handbook_pdf Anyways, What are your opinions on this?

    If I were in PA I would take it, but you probably shouldn't be going on HAZMAT calls.
    As a senior firefighter told me, "Take whatever training that you can it will really help down the road."

    Suck up all the free training you can get. It never hurts.

    I wouldn't put it that way. In this sense, ":why would a junior train on ladders or hand tools - They're not going to use them on fire scenes because you shouldn't be going there."

    At the very least, IMO, everyone in a fire house should take the minimum HazMat Awareness course. In Ohio, Ops is integrated into the Fire I course.

    I didn't mean for it to be interpreted that way, everyone should take all the training they can get whether or not they can actually do these actions on scene.
