Denver Fire Dept Hiring ...

Anyone else who didn't score high enough on the initial test get an email today? I did good on the written test, but not good enough to move. Out of the blue today, I got an email asking if I was still interested in the dept along with paperwork for me to start completing. I wonder if they are going to establish a two year list and needed more candidates?

i was in the top 10 after the written.. passed the rest of the testing and was put on the eligible list in the first week of september.. haven't heard anything else since. good luck to everyone that is still testing.

About how long did it take from backround packet to CPAT?

I wonder if they are trying to build a hiring list or build another class? I had passed the original written, but got the email my score wasn't high enough to continue on in the process. Then I got that email yesterday with the background check and all the other paperwork. I wonder if they are looking at another class late in 2013 or 2014?

For those that got them email yesterday (myself included) the CSC has a requirement that they process 3x the amount of applicants that they think they need. Good news for the guys waiting for an academy, but doesn't really mean much for us right now. Our list should be good till around spring/summer 2014 so we will just have to wait and see. Any movement forward is better than none though. If you haven't already started on the background packet, I would take a look at it and get going. It's a PITA.

For they guys waiting, have you gone to oral boards yet or is that the next step? I have yet to make it that far the past times testing, but was just curious what type they are: formal, relaxed, chief/capts/LTs or just firefighters, long, short, conversational or questions with no followup. Thanks in advance and best of luck.

I haven't heard anything since I got the email about being put on the eligible register. Hopefully we will hear something soon about interviews if they really want to do another Academy early next year.

Same. Eligible Register was the last word. Now it's back to standing by to standby. Sounds like the CSC is still waiting on the Manager of Safety's word on a 2013 Academy date. There hasn't been any real indication on when in 2013 that may be.

DFD and Aurora do joint academies, AFD is planning on an academy in March/ April 2013. If DFD does a "Back to Back" academy, the current academy is completed in the first part of december, so with taking the holidays into consideration the next academy would not start until Jan/ Feb, and that is the best case.

It seemed like we had an appointment once a month between steps, we had the Suitability test in march followed by other tests, with the final CPAT in June.

About how long did it take from backround packet to CPAT?

Hopefully 2a frees up the budget for the Manager of Safety to decide on an Academy date (and size). Next Commission meeting is Nov 16, so hopefully some new information comes down soon. Maybe interviews will be coming soon.

The commission already submitted the 2013 budget, Hopefully they can ammend it with the 2a results. The current academy just finished "Hell Night". I'm still betting on a March 2013 academy.

here is some good news.. I just got picked up on another department, and I was #6 on Denver's list. So most of you will be moving up a spot!
