Don't sweat it. This was my first polygraph, so I was super nervous. The examiner had to go back over a few questions because I was shaky, but he said everything looked fine when we were done. I went into it knowing I have nothing to hide, but I've heard the horror stories (as I'm sure you have) where someone tells the truth and is somehow disqualified.

I'm supposed to hear from my background investigator this week to give me the green light. He seemed like a pretty mellow/good guy. After we finished the BG interview he was telling me how much paperwork is actually involved on his side and how many cases he has. Needless to say I'm not holding my breath on hearing from him this week.

The polygraph went fine and I was so relieved when it was over. I felt silly that I was ever nervous at all, although the whole experience is a little strange. Next week I have the oral suitability. I guess you guys from out of state are ahead of us in testing. Nice to know that the BG test isn't super high stress. I've got nothing to hide but I have heard the horror stories from other depts. Good luck, everyone!

I think I might have seen something about this on the chart that was in the email that was sent to us.

They have done interviews in the past. Don't know much about them though. The only thing that I have seen on it is that it's not scored (I think there are 3 grades that they can assign the interviewee- not recommended, recommended and highly recommended or something like that). Also it's really late in the process right before they certify you for an academy and I heard that it's very formal (whatever that means).

Maybe check the last thread from the '10 testing process to see if there's some info in there.

    Good luck!

I got a call from my background investigator yesterday. Polygraph and oral suitability interview came back positive, so I am moving forward with backgrounds.

Does anyone have any information on when the next academy is planned and/or how many they are looking to pick up from this list?

I also heard that they will no longer be using the last list. And the reason this process is moving so fast is they just want to use the new list. I'm not sure how credible my resource is but they seemed pretty sure about it.

I am still waiting on my results, i am from out of state. Two questions. How did you guys who got your results get informed, phone, email. And it sounds like u get a new final rank then? Also, haven't only the out of state people tested or has everyone been tested. If not, how have they given a final rank? Lots of confusion in this, just looking for info on whats going on.

So the #10 rank was from The written test, the original rank?

I am #124. Not the greatest position to be in, but certainly not the worst.

From the fire candidate information book:

Applicants who pass backgrounds are generally merged onto eligible register ranked by final exam score.
I was notified by a phone call from my BG investigator telling me to get going on the items we discussed in our interview.

    Front Range Firefighter Candidates,
Hopefully nobody gets too grumpy about the content of this post, but I wasn’t able to find a “For Sale” section in the forums. This thread is geographically specific to the front range and I'd prefer not to ship this. If you don’t like the content, just move on to the next post.

I am located in Colorado Springs and have available what I am calling a “Firefighter Candidates Kit”.
It includes a lot of what you’ll need to get ready for or improve your candidacy and testing and interviewing process:

MIR Pro Weight Vest 50 lb. – Great for training for the CPAT. After using this to train for my CPAT’s I knocked a minute and a half off my time vs. putting a weight vest on for the first time at my first CPAT.

Captain Bob’s Gold Package – Includes:
Captain Bob’s book Becoming a Firefighter----The Complete Guide to Your Badge!
“It’s Your Turn in the Hot Seat” CD program
    “Conquer Job Interviews” CD Program
    “Conquer Job Interviews” DVD

Battalion Chief Paul Lepore 3 book package
    “Smoke Your Firefighter Interview”
    “Smoke Your Firefighter Written Exam”
“The Aspiring Firefighter’s 2 Year Plan”

Norman Hall’s Firefighter Exam Preparation book 2nd Edition (2 copies)

ARCO Master the Firefighter Exam book 15th Edition

Everything together retails for over $350. My price for the package is $200. I don’t want to separate it out. I’d much rather sell as a complete “kit”.

Everything has been gently used and is much better off finding a candidate who needs it rather than sitting in a box in my garage.

Respond to this post with your email and I’ll send a photo of everything.

Has anybody received anything about when we'll be scheduled for the CPAT and CPAT practice sessions? I'm from out of town so I wanted to book my flight as early as possible.
