Negative here buddy. I don't want to sign up for my CPAT until I'm given the email either...even if it's showing green, $125 non refundable at this time of year is hard to part with until I have official word.

Yeah I have the one Castle Rock FD put on during their hiring process. Only issue is SouthMet is saying CPAT valid through July 2012, so I'm assuming it won't work and will have to take another.

But I guess that's assuming I get into the orals and then past that...not sure if I just sign up for it or wait until I know I need it. Just don't want to be in a scramble mode if that situation arises.

Be careful Dave, looks like you will need to renew your CPAT by 2/20/12

    CPAT (CANDIDATE PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST):
All applicants must possess a CPAT certificate valid through at least 7/31/2012 (certificates are valid for 1 year from the date of the test). If you do not have a CPAT certificate, or yours will expire prior to 7/31/2012, you will need to obtain one from a licensed department by 2/20/2012 (see our website, Employment page, CPAT Testing tab, for more info on licensed departments).

    Hey all,
So I noticed one of the things needed is CPR for professional rescuer (this is the CPR/AED cert. given out by Red Cross). I have CPR/AED for Health Care Providers (cert given by American Heart Association).

Well I wrote HR to make sure the AHA cert would be ok and it is...just figured I'd throw the knowledge out there if you were wondering the same thing.

Does anyone know what the benefit would be if you applied to BOTH the Firefighter/Medic and Firefighter/EMT positions?

Is this just a failsafe provided you don't pass the paramedic testing?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

With that said if you can't pass their Paramedic test and you are a Paramedic you should have just applied for the Firefighter EMT because in my opinion you have no Business being a Medic if you can't pass their Medic Test ... Just my 2 cents.
I couldn't agree with you more, which is why I didn't understand why there was even the option to apply for both positions. Weird.

So, filling out the Application, and wondering if i should do this with adobe pro or hand write it out. I have the penmenship of a 4 year old, so i'll probably have my wife fill it out.

Kinda strange they are still using the paper based.

Also, is anyone attaching a 'proper' resume to the package, or just what they have included?

I'm with CoDave...either PDF editor, type it out, or amazing penmanship on this app. Going with a fire resume and a cover letter.

Has anyone heard anything about the skills evaluation since the confirmation of receiving the application?

What skills evaluation are you talking about?

The next step will be oral boards in April. You should receive an email by mid-March per the email confirmation I had received.

If you are talking about the CPAT, that needs to be registered through AIMS Community College, if you don't have a current CPAT valid through July.
