    I'll be there on the 19th. I live in the fire protection district and am looking forward to the process, been waiting 3 years for them to test. Not sure how many they are looking for but my guess would be 10-20 based on how many vacancies they would have had since they last tested. Good luck to everyone.

    I have my paramedic so I'll be going for that position. The steps seem pretty standard for any department. Test, CPAT, Oral Boards, Background check are all pretty standard operating procedure for any department. They actually have less than a lot without a psych or medical screening or a chief's interview. If you are going for the paramedic make sure you try to get your hands on Denver Metro Protocols because I'm pretty sure Nebraska scope of practice is a far amount lower than Colorado.

    You're right about the chief's interview, but this is from their website:

    "Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, criminal history review, physical, medical evaluation, drug screen and psychological exam"

    All those are pretty standard though.

    Anyone test with SM after they combined with Parker? I've tested with Parker in the past and know their process but just wondering what it's been like since they merged. Or maybe this is the first testing since the merge? 3 years is a long time.

    I see that they prefer medics, I only have my EMT. I will be flying in for each step, as well as flying in for the Denver Dept. hiring process, so I want to make sure I have a shot. With hundreds applying, do you think it's worth applying if I don't have my medic?

    They haven't tested since combining with Parker so this is the first one in about 3 years which hopefully means they are hiring some off the list. Even if you don't have you medic it's still worth applying. Just because they prefer paramedics doesn't mean they won't hire EMTs.

    aharris, good job staying positive. A lot of people make mistakes, I know the applications give you a place to explain things. I'm sure if you plead your case, they will hear you out. Having your medic is a huge plus. Because application requirements are so low, I imagine most people apply with few credentials. You still have the advantage. Good luck.

    Thanks all for your encouragement. I am scheduled to take the afternoon test on Dec. 3. I just booked my flight, hope to see some of you there.

    I've taken quite a few of these exams, but never a video one. Any ideas on how to study for it?

    are they planning to hire a certain number of EMTs and Medics separately? because id assume they would have more preference towards Medics and hire more of them

    Check out their website. They used to have a practice test that you could pay to take and see what to expect. I would highly suggest it if you haven't taken the FireTeam test before. It's very diff from conventional written tests and throws some guys off the first time they take it.

    Edit: you will find some threads on her by doing a search, but not any specifics seeing as you have to sign a non-disclosure agreement saying that you won't talk about the questions/answers/scenarios after taking it.

    I HATED the FireTeam test when I took it for Aurora a couple of years ago. I've gotten past the written with several departments (Longmont, West Metro, and Englewood most recently). The FireTeam test seems more like a psych eval than a standard written test.

    I'm applying for South Metro but am DREADING the FT test.

    EDIT: That's generic enough not to violate the confidentiality agreement, right?

    I placed A band with Aurora and C band on Colorado Springs on the same exact test. The departments can tweak the answers to the type of personality that fits their department. So it's a crap shoot.
