Default Vehicle Grant Award Time frame Question

Our commercial chassis supplier is telling us they will be 3 month behind on the delivery of chassis to the apparatus builder, which will cause us not to meet the one year dead line for the grant. I’m trying to find out the reason for the late delivery, but I’m not getting any answers from the chassis builder.

With this news, what is the best way to handle the late delivery? Do you think the program specialist will allow an extension to the dead line?

    Chief,
I agree with Kurt, also did you have a zero down contract with a penilty clause in it? We went one step further, we included a clause that if we were not able to obtain an extension and we were to loose the grant, the township has the right to back out of the contract and refuse to purchase the fire truck.

    Good luck with your engine.

    rands1,
Yes, we have a zero down contract on both the chassis and the apparatus builder. We decided to go with two different contracts, because we could purchase the chassis under the state bid program to save some $$$$. With the dates they was giving us, we felt confident that and so did the apparatus builder that there should be no problem hitting the completion date before the end of the grant cycle. The problem is, after doing some review of our decision we found that there wasn't a late fee clause in the chassis contract. I hope I can clear this up with our program specialist. I want to call them to gets this cleared up, but Iím waiting on the chassis builder to give me a reason for being late. I hope this donít cause me to loose the grant because we where trying to save a few $$$$.
