Checked this morning and found 1 new 1199A. I can't say that i've been checking every app religiously over the past 2 weeks, so I'm not exactly sure when this one appeared.

They posted yesterday for sure, found another handful which is always nice. Spot checked a half dozen this morning and didn't see anything but hopefully they keep the train moving even if it is a mighty slow pace.

Keep an eye on that boat, don't want to see that 1199a disappear for sure. Way to go Ron.

1199As will probably start flowing soon, as will the drinks in the Watering Hole. Comp DJ's are loaded and will be on their way over the next 2 days.
It's going to hurt a bit folks, but with there only being 2000 some odd awards planned for this year compared to twice that many last year the increase in regionals made it tougher to get into Review. Lots of apps I'm surprised made it through, and a bunch I'm PO'd that didn't make it at least into Peer. Good thing I drink already....

Got to agree with you Brian, bad news this year is going to be more frequent than good news
. Stock up on crying towels folks its going to be a rough year. Looking at my increase in regional apps last year I knew would result in this scenario occurring. Competition increases as money pool depletes and requests increase. The FCC mandate and many departments procrastinating till the last minute to get their comm problems resolved, created a "feeding frenzy" for those regionals. The addition of additonal eligible projects for regional applciations also is driving this issue.
If there can be a silver lining here it would be that when you count the number of departments "involved" in the regionals, and I worked some pretty healthy numbers this year, the number of departments benefiting as a whole, will still be pretty significant.

Yeah you and I talked about that before Kurt, regionals all get Peer Reviewed so the max dollar amount that can hit Peer gets taken out of the vehicle apps too. I don't see them hitting the 25% mark, which is kosher since that's a max and there's no minimum truck money required. We're going to have more money in awards this year than ever before it looks like but with fewer apps.
Only good part is that the scoring will be changing for next year to emphasize the project and not the numbers (population, calls, etc). Lots of small departments have been taking it on the chin with being denied for 20+ year old gear and packs, which was highly apparent in Peer this year. Hence the recommended change so that at least anyone with 100% NFPA expired equipment will make Peer with practical certainty in 2012. Anyone that gets the CDJ should just polish and re-drop that was going for those two things.

Thanks for the "talking points" if and when I have to break the bad news to the guys. I am still holding out hope though - no matter how slim the odds.
Questions:
1. Are all the 1199's out yet? Based on what everyone is saying - I don't think they are - but should be dropping really soon.
2. If I don't get a DJ for an application - does that mean that a 1199 may be coming at some point?
Thanks in advance.
Now - better find a stool in the watering hole - that place will be packed soon. Bartender -- get me the usual.

Well for those of you still holding out hope, I did find a couple more 1199a updates just now that were not there at 6:00AM this morning.

Only thing that sucks about that is our lists to check are shorter with the pending CDJs...

Just found a new 1199a this afternoon which was not there this morning for SCBA's!!! The amount was reduced, but still better than a DJ. Now just waiting for the turnout gear to come through. Hopefully the wonderful grant gods work some more magic!
