For the first time, black, curled moustaches are making appearances on fire trucks across Victoria to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
"We had the pink T-shirts for breast cancer awareness in October and we wanted to do something for the men as well," said Victoria Fire Department master mechanic Cory Meeres, who came up with the idea for the decals.
"Cancer is just hitting far too close to home for some of us here and we want to do whatever we can to bring awareness."
Movember is a worldwide month-long campaign that sees participants grow a "mo" (moustache) for the month of November each year in support of men's health causes - specifically prostate cancer.
Meeres is also growing a moustache of his own.
Deputy chief Paul Bruce said about half of the fire departmet's male firefighters are doing the same.
The Victoria Fire Department is raising funds for the national non-profit organization Movember Canada at ca.movember.com under team name "Victoria Fire Dept."
