As far as veteran points, do they get added on to your written test score or some other type of scoring in the hiring process?

    Default Test on Monday

I take the test on Monday afternoon and was wondering if there was anything that I should know. Any tips or advice? I wasn't sure if parking was tough or if there was anything that I should know before I head out. Thanks in advance for the information.

Anything in particular I should brush up on before I take the test?

Results finally came today, I scored an 88.8%. I'm not very happy with that. Guess I need to put some more work in.

I heard there were a lot of very high scores on this test. I scored a 97.78.

The 105 questions seemed to be pretty easy, at least I thought. Does anyone know how they factor in the 50 behavioral questions? Obviously I sucked at something though.

I felt the same way. I think the 50 questions at the end play a big factor in the scoring. I know some very book smart people that thought the test was easy, that scored poorly, like under 70.

Congrats on your 97% JJT, that should put you in a nice position!

I'm going to have to do some thinking whether it's going to even be worth it to spend the money to fly back for the PAT with my score.

Thanks. You never know what they want. I would definitely come back for the PAT if it is in the budget. Good luck!

Maybe you're right. Sometimes I get a little hard on myself when I don't shoot the moon. I've got a couple months to wait and if the money is there for me to fly.

    Default physical test

Is their physical test the same as the CPAT?

    Default Physical test

Does anyone know how Omaha is grading the CPAT? Are they grading it Pass/Fail or are they actually grading you based on your final time?

So it sounds like they are gonna pull their band list from their written test scores? Obviously you have to pass the CPAT....

I called and talked to H.R. yesterday, they told me that there was a little under 1,000 people that are going to take the CPAT. This test and list will be good for two years and they are looking at running a class (maybe) some time in June. She really wouldn't tell me much on the numbers of how many they are trying to hire.

I am a firefighter in Charleston S.C. and I have some questions before I spend another 600 + dollars to come back out to take the CPAT and I am looking for someone that may be on the job in Omaha:

What are the bus rotations and how do they staff them?

Are they forcing firefighters to get their medic card?

What kind of tactics does OFD use and how aggressive are they?

I scored an 89.5 not to strong and I was not going to come and take the CPAT until I heard that only 1000 people are going to take it. I am still on the edge on if it is worth me coming back out to finish the test and if someone can answer any of my questions it could help me to one side or the other.

    Thanks for the info CFD,

I plan on flying in from out of state for the CPAT so far. I've got a decent chance of being picked up by another department and should know if I made it by then. So if not, see you guys in March

CPAT done, fact sheet and background sent away. Now we play the waiting game... Anyone else hear anything about interview scheduling, timeline etc?

Also, I was told that we are ranked solely on the written test, but that the interview counts for "everything". What weight does our written test score really hold and why are we ranked before the interview if the interview is so important?

    Default number of hiring

Has anyone heard how many they are hiring?
