"Nemo Plus Voluptatis Quam Nos Habant"
The Code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

In your words junior, CALM THE **** DOWN!
Holy ****, have you ever heard of reading a thread before responding? Had you read on you would have seen more than just DCGonzo's disappointment. You would have seen his maturity in being able to apologize, though I really don't think it was needed.

I have a lot of friends and aquaintences on the Worcester Fire Department and knew two of the W6 through the Fire Academy, so I did take it a little personal at first.
If you read the entire thread... you will see that I admitted I was wrong.
Go ahead and mark your calendar.. as long as it makes you remember the sacrifices of all of our fallen brothers and sisters... I know I won't forget.Last edited by DeputyChiefGonzo; 12-10-2011 at 05:13 PM.
"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

As a non-FF'r, I'd simply suggest that lack of response may be more due to geography than apathy...the closer you are to Worcester, the more it impacted you and given that I'm now on Cape Cod and get the Boston TV stations, I'm more likely to be aware of any reports about that area than someone in FL or TX or such.
That geography aspect affects me related to the shuttle Challenger explosion as i saw the wild contrails in sky from Tampa that fateful day so it had more impact....just a comment from an outsider who's interested in helping our local FD.

I would love for you to come into my career house, or even one of my POC FD houses, and talk like this to a senior man face to face. You are quite the big man here anonymously telling a resepcted member of the fire service, with more years in the fire service than you have been alive, how to act.
If in fact you are attempting to get on the job might I suggest this simple thought to you? You have 2 ears and one mouth, obviously you are meant to listen more than speak. That holds true especially as a probie in the fire house. It is very hard, if not impossible to change the reputation you make in the first few months on the job. I fear this will be a HUGE issue for you.
The point is you could have disagreed with Gonzo, like I did, and do it respectfully. Instead you come across like another wiseass looking to make his mark as an internet forum super hero. You impress none and lose any hope of credibility.
take your own advice, calm down, the fire service still is steeped in tradition and earning your way in is one of them.“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live.” Leo F. Buscaglia
This place gets weirder and weirder every day...
