AFG Grant Writer's Fees

Hi Guys,
Got a question on a grant writer's fee that I included in an AFG grant this AM... I had written the grant myself but was under the understanding that we could include the fee and use the funds to pay for future grant writing if awarded. I learned that I was wrong!

Anyway, they were kind and removed the fee for me. But, I thought maybe some others may want to know this... unless I'm missing something, or there is a better way, you can't do that unless you're actively paying a grant writer to write them for you.

Also, this made me think of another question... is this an indicator of how long it will be until an award happens?

Correct, it's in the back of the guidelines that you'd need to supply canceled checks if you're requesting reimbursement for writing fees. Administration costs can be included in the Additional Funding section if you're going to pay someone to help manage the award but they usually don't let those go higher than a couple hundred bucks in most cases. Those might be the so-called future costs you were thinking of.

That makes sense to me. Hopefully it's no big deal... I would be pretty bummed to have an award delayed for something like that.
