Hi guys, many of you know my situation...
Taking Fire 1 and 2 in NC hoping it will transfer to FL. I got the paperwork from FL and I have to get the instructor in NC at fire school to fill out some paperwork, comparing the NC hours to FL's hours.
I start fire school in NC soon, so I'm reading over the paperwork from FL Fire College (its called the "Firefighter Equivalency Examination Requirements"), and it says, "attesting to the fact that you successfully completed basic training that meets or exceeds Florida's course content." So does anyone know if this means that I have to wait til after completion of the coursework before I can get the instructor to send FL my hours? I was trying to get the ball rolling on this as it takes months to do. I was hoping to get this thing started even before I start fire school, but maybe I can't?

Have you called directly to Florida and asked the question ???
It may have come up before
Looks like you could send the course descriptions and hours to Florida for evaluation, that is how most colleges handle it
And looks like you could do it before you complete the courses , as a courtesy review

Is the school:::
of 398-hours of training. The first 206-hours includes NFPA Firefighter I and Florida specific requirements. The following 192-hours includes NFPA Firefighter II and Florida specific requirements.
Nfpa I and II??? At least

Got paperwork and haven't been able to contact anyone there yet. I will try to call this week, but wasn't sure if anyone else has come across this type of situation yet (where you're trying to do the paperwork before attending the out-of-state fire academy).

It's actually a total of 560 hrs... Fire 1 and 2 is "between 336-402" hrs (whatever that means), and then there is HazMat of 40 hrs, Tech Rescue of 31 hrs, Wildland S130/S190 of approximately 40 hrs, Mayday/RIT of 48 hrs, EVOC of 16 hrs, etc... adding to 560. Difficult to figure out exactly how many hours there are and what is included / not included.Last edited by Want2BAFF.; 12-25-2011 at 06:33 PM.

You will more than likely not be able to do the paperwork
But can find out if the nc course is accepted by fla
You can ask the place you are going, if it meets nfpa I/II
Do you want to say the name of the academy ???

You think? I'll certainly try to find out whether it will be accepted by FL or not before attending the school in NC. But I've got the time to do it this year (normally I work about 60 hrs a week in my current job).
