Hey ljm... do you happen to know how many they are taking to the first round of interviews?? I saw 54 open slots to select from when I signed up for a time, but any info would be helpful.

I haven't heard, I counted the number of slots and figured that was it...50ish. This is for 4 positions right? Got to score in the top 12 for any real chance (using the 3 to 1 rule).

He scored 94 on DRCOG.. EMT-B for almost 4 years, volly for a combo dept for 2.5 years, AAS fire science, some random medical job experience. It is very very very interesting that so many highly-qualified folks did not move on with Boulder. I'm very curious what factor this was decided on, because it clearly seems to be something beyond just score, experience, and education.

Ya'll don't have to answer of course but I wonder if it's because of a traffic record or something? Letter states you can't have 3 moving violations, 8 points, suspension etc in the past 2 years. That 3 ticket rule would have put me out if I had applied (darn lead foot).

Well... good luck to anyone who's continuing with Boulder, and best wishes to those who didn't. You sound like very strong candidates so it probably won't be long. Seems like a big crazy roulette game sometimes, huh?
Good luck, only reasonable option why we were passed would be the psych portion. Being Boulder they might have a "different" answer key. A lot of tests break the psych questions into a different category of pass/fail. My driving record/background is as clean as a whistle. One would assume with previous career experience you are psychologically fit but that's just not how the testing process goes. Hell, I even just received a life safety commendation for pulling a lady and child from a fire on my last shift at my old department. Anyways, I'm past it.

    Front Range Firefighter Candidates,
Hopefully nobody gets too grumpy about the content of this post, but I wasn’t able to find a “For Sale” section in the forums. This thread is geographically specific to the front range and I'd prefer not to ship this. If you don’t like the content, just move on to the next post.

I am located in Colorado Springs and have available what I am calling a “Firefighter Candidates Kit”.
It includes a lot of what you’ll need to get ready for or improve your candidacy and testing and interviewing process:

MIR Pro Weight Vest 50 lb. – Great for training for the CPAT. After using this to train for my CPAT’s I knocked a minute and a half off my time vs. putting a weight vest on for the first time at my first CPAT.

Captain Bob’s Gold Package – Includes:
Captain Bob’s book Becoming a Firefighter----The Complete Guide to Your Badge!
“It’s Your Turn in the Hot Seat” CD program
    “Conquer Job Interviews” CD Program
    “Conquer Job Interviews” DVD

Battalion Chief Paul Lepore 3 book package
    “Smoke Your Firefighter Interview”
    “Smoke Your Firefighter Written Exam”
“The Aspiring Firefighter’s 2 Year Plan”

Norman Hall’s Firefighter Exam Preparation book 2nd Edition (2 copies)

ARCO Master the Firefighter Exam book 15th Edition

Everything together retails for over $350. My price for the package is $200. I don’t want to separate it out. I’d much rather sell as a complete “kit”.

Everything has been gently used and is much better off finding a candidate who needs it rather than sitting in a box in my garage.

Respond to this post with your email and I’ll send a photo of everything.

Oral board all wrapped up for me, now we wait. Looks like they are pulling to top 8 through, with the possibility of another round of orals if they can not narrow it down to 8.

Anybody else who took it how'd you feel after all was said and done? I felt like I did OK, but not as though it was good enough to score in the top 8.
