from where i'm looking... asheville, durham, i heard raleigh is having another recruiting session opening spring/summer 12, tucson in the winter, savannah ga, norfolk

I don't believe Asheville is hiring in 2012, last I heard. I know a guy who retired from AVL, so if you (or anyone) needs to know anything about the dept, I know a little bit.

Hey there are numerous websites out there, some you have to pay for (www.firerecruit.com) and others are free (www.hotjobs911.com) all of them can and will tell you when new jobs come up. ohh and Greensboro FD is continuous so log onto their website and download the app

According to a friend of mine on the NOFD they won't be hiring for awhile. Like 3-4 years, they just hired a bunch of guys off a federal grant in 2011.

Unfortunately, most are looking for people that can take "initiative", or be "self-starters".
