Theoretically, there's no way that should have worked...
Chief Dwayne LeBlanc
Paincourtville Volunteer Fire Department
Paincourtville, LA
"I have a dream. It's not a big dream, it's just a little dream. My dream — and I hope you don't find this too crazy — is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

Cool Video
Even I'm impressed..... Pretty ballsy..... Wonder if the 1st time this was done the conversation went something like "hey, we're pretty slow, Chief's gone, and we're bored... Let's go drive the Engine through the river..."

Huh, wonder how the "C" would respond when we left that mess for them...
"Be LOUD, Be PROUD..... It just might save your can someday when goin' through an intersection!!!!!"
Life on the Truck (Quint) is good.....
Eat til you're sleepy..... Sleep til you're hungry..... And repeat.....

I think these guys got in trouble with the department for this...
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

If the siren is going underwater, and there are no fish to hear it, did it make a sound?

There's a fine line between "ballsy" and F#%king idiot. I'm leaning on the idiot side for a number of reasons. First, firefighters riding in the open?? REALLY?? They took a real chance of the water flow knocking them off the road, not to mention hitting some underwater debris. And as was mentioned, They've just destroyed this truck. Everything in the driveline will have to be disassembled, cleaned and relubed with new seals and possibly bearings. And who knows what it's going to do to the electrical system and the rust damage that going to show up from dirt sitting in spots they can't clean.
