    Exclamation Firehouse.com Forum Upgrade

Firehouse.com will be undergoing a site-wide redesign starting Wednesday, Jan. 4. To accompany the redesign, our Forums section will also undergo a full upgrade of the vBulletin platform we use. The biggest change that you will find is the overall look and feel.

The forums will be inaccessible for a short time while the upgrade is in process.

Please bear with us if you encounter any problems with the forums through Thursday.

    Thanks,

    Firehouse.com Staff

While I haven't looked around much, can you tell us if the colors are user controlled? Everything in the Forums area between each post is very light colored and makes it harder to read or want to use.

Unable to access the forums using Firefox last night. Kept getting message about opening php files at -1 bytes in size.

All other websites/forums were working fine.

I had a hard time login to the "new and improve" site. I kept getting messages saying my name and password were incorrect. I sent an e-mail to Firehouse.com at 1000hrs yesterday. I called Cygnus after waiting 24 hrs to get my "new password" and got passed around like a blunt at a occupy wall street event! But I will say that after getting passed around, I finally got a e-mail about my problems and here I am! The site looks nice, it will just take a little while to get use to these new improvements,

I had issues trying to log in and had to reset my password - the system wouldn't recognize my username or my email address at first. I'm in now - but will see if I can log in from home later today!

There seems to be gremlins and bugs when any site is revamped as this one was.
Maybe in a day or two it will be worked out. Let's hope.

    Hi folks!

Just letting you know we're glad to have you all back and posting away on the new forums. We have encountered a few issues, but we are working hard to get those resolved for everyone as soon as possible.

Thanks for the feedback so far, and continue to let us know if you spot any problems or have any suggestions for improvement. You can contact us here on the forums, or through the Contact Us link at the top of the page.

The forum themes are not customizable, but we'd be happy to hear about any suggestions you may have regarding usability or color schemes!

    Thanks,

    Josh

I had no issues logging in, but I find it a lot harder to tell which threads have new posts since my last visit now. Like someone else mentioned, all of the colors just seem to run together.

    Default Screen Name

Josh.....I worked out the problem I had with my screen name. It read LBFD17 and not JayDudley. I guess it was on my end as like everything else the mind seems to work less and less. Basically it was C.R.S. and used wrong password.

    Thanks.....

Is this account from ages ago still working and how might I expunge it and re-associate the email address with my current account?

Is there anyway to get rid off all the ads on the side and in between posts? They are really annoying.

Ditto to this statement. Getting annoying enough to just give up these threads.

If you're using FireFox then AdBlock is an option.

I have Adblock on my computer. Still doesn't block everything. Plus it still cuts down on the size of the forum because the ad space is there even if an ad isn't.

There is another add on that will block the DIV. forget what it's called. It doesn't resize the forum but moves it back left.

Overall I like the new look. Now just need mobile support.

Having to "add" plug-in's to my system to make firehouse forums work better is a pretty sad option.

In all fairness, the forum works as-is. It just now has ads that you don't like. I don't like them either, especially the in-thread ones. AdBlock and ElementHider provide a means for you to limit your annoyance. If you don't want to use them.. ok.

Ah a new formatted look to Firehouse on line! I had to look around to find the forums but did in a short time.

I am not yet sold on the new format but as with others sites, it will grow on you and in a few days will be business as usual.

As some of us get older, some changes are confusing, but we old guys will endure and work with it.

Never fear C.O.T. I finally got in and I'm never going to leave after that ordeal. I'll tell you what is what, trust me.

You can change the skin under settings. I find the VB4 default a bit less annoying than the Debutante Responsive that seems to be the default. It at least gets rid of the ads on the side.
