Either way, 2 normal depth compartments will never equal a full depth compartment. It is really that simple.

I completely relaxed. Hell people, if you want to believe the same equipment that requires a full depth compartment will fit into 2 normal depth compartments more power to you.

Sorry that the facts are so unsettling to some of you.

Seriously brother, let it go. I was actually advocating that with the sidestacker you were getting one full depth compartment instead of two half depth compartments. It seems that you just can't see that for the sake of arguing. Give it a rest please.
I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!

One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

I would be glad to let it go if you can realize that on my quint we have 4 FULL depth compartments on the driver's side(2 uppers, a lower and a full height), 3 upper half depth, and 2 lower full depth compartments on the officer's side, and a full depth compartment in the center rear.

The premise presented is that ALL quints have either side stacker hose beds, or chutes, and my quint has neither. The hose bed is under the aerial and if front of the turntable. The hose comes out just outside the turntable and has no effect on compartment size.

So I guess in reality we are BOTH right...shocking isn't it?

I didn't get upset. I just wasn't going to agree with something that isn't 100% true. Sorry that wasn't palitable for you.

Before you call "Pot, meet kettle" on me, check yourself in the mirror.

Now, if you guys can get over me not agreeing with what I know isn't always right, we could get back to admiring Bull's shiny Yellow quint, the original topic of his post.

    Bull,

What's the response matrix of the quint...what kind of assignments will it be first-due, second-due, etc on?

She will be first out on all commercial fires those in our district and to our Mutual aid depts.

She be first out to all residential fires in our district unless the area or conditions prevents access to the home. examples very sharp switch backs, hog tails for driveways etc. (In other words you better know where you going!) She will also roll to MA house fires if requested.

For MVAs on the 4 lane she will roll out 2nd after the rescue pumper.

Very interesting that you'll be rolling this ahead of pumpers on residential assignments. Have you all found a great need for a ladder company on many of your residential fires?

Box and Bull, as you both know, that is some areas, if the Truck or Quint doesn't go first and get to the builidng first to have the front, they may get blocked out.

You can always pull hose line but you can't pull that stick if it in a position to use.

BTW lets stick to the issues of the post and stop the banter on who has the biggest willie!

Don't get me wrong, I understand that completely, but I have a feeling that Bull's residential response area and ours at home are very similar, and we've run across only a handful of fires ever where a ladder company would have been helpful - not needed per se - just helpful. I just like learning what drives different departments decisions....

Due to limited space in most peoples driveways and the fact that more than most residents homes are very far from the "curb" and us that term very loosely, We going to roll the ladder first then the engines to give the ladder the prime real estate.

I wouldn't say that we have necessarily have had a great need for a ladder truck on most house fires, but then we have never had a ladder truck. We figure that it would be best to have it up front and ready to go then sitting at the barn. When we spec'ed this truck we did it with the understanding that we wanted to run it as much as possible than leave it at the fire station and only pull it out for the Christmas parade.

If you want it to end why bring it up again? It hadn't been mentioned in 7 posts until YOU brought it up.
