Were looking at TICs and noticing that some of the TICs use NiMH batteries instead of Li-Ion. After researching the difference between the two batteries it seems like the Li-Ion batteries are better, is there a particular reason these makers (Bullard, ISG) use NiMH batteries?
Golzy, do a quick search for a Jonathan Bastian(sp), he is the chief of public safety director somewhere, but prior to that he was a rep. for bullard. I recall him be fair and very objective when it came to pros and cons of the various TIC's. I will did around for any info I still have.

We have MSA's which just put into service not all that long ago. I like them and their in-house training was decent. If not a little redundent.
Bullard has not switched to Lithium Ion due to the risk of thermal runaway when exposed to high temperatures. Lithium Ion batteries can catastrophically fail from thermal runaway where Nickle Metal Hydride batteries do not.
Our MSA only comes in Li Ion batteries. We just replaced them this week. Never had an issue of them failing while being used at fires. But that's just us.
