Hi all-
I thought I would start a thread for those of us who are going through the testing process with Bloomington Fire. How did you all think the written test went?

I agree. I'd have rather taken my state paramedic test again than that.

I don't know much of anything about the test at College of Dupage. Care to elaborate how that works? I'm from down by Springfield and just now starting to test in Chicagoland, starting with Schiller Park this weekend.

They do a consortium test every quarter of the year... Usually there a quite a few that do it. This time there is just two departments (Glenside & Lombard). If you go to www.publicsafetyrecruitment.com that will be able to get you the information.
If you have any other questions let me know.
Did you test for Springfield then?

I didnt test for this one because I didnt realize they said you did not need FF2 until after the date passed, kinda ****ed.
As for the COD consortium I have a quick question. Where do you obtain all the information you need for the application? Things such as accidents and stuff? Would I be better off contacting my insurance agent or going to the county clerks office?
Thanks for any and all help.

When you sign up, and they send you the information, there is about 11 pages of the application you need to fill out.
Should be in there.

Also, I took the test yesterday... You guys were right it was pretty rough.. The questions were a good challenge, the only I wished for was more time...
The Training Chief advised he will be making phone calls to the top 25 next week.

Bloomington started calling applicants today. They aren't releasing where you rank on the list though.

Didn't recieve a phone call... Well, that was my second test I've ever taken, so I guess that was bound to happen.
Good luck to the rest of you in the testing process!

Hey Junior AFPD did you ever think that by discussing current tests on line you are increasing the applicant pool and decreasing your chance of ever getting a job. most guys keep test information secret except to their friends. 1000's of guys could be reading your post and deciding to test against you. This is your career, your life, screw being nice to the whole world. But thanks for the info about public safety recruitment, I'll give it a look I'd never heard of that one before
Where else should??? Joliet, Naperville........
I throw in an app

I think I was the final interview this morning. 21 people passed the physical. Chief Kimmerling said that they are hiring 7, who will go through an academy somewhere in the state starting early to mid-April. They still haven't released where you fall on the eligibility list though.

Hey BENV17! Did you ever think that if you can't get hired for a job because a few more people read about testing dates online, then you're doing something wrong? The cream will always rise to the top. If you're the best candidate for the job, then it shouldn't matter how many other people show up to test. As far as "screw being nice to the world," I gurantee no Fire Chief will want to hire someone that shows that attitude, and trust me, Chief's do glance at this forum. Not to mention, if you do get hired, everyone else that gets hired that knows you said that are going to have a problem with you from day one. People rank high on hiring lists all the time, but get passed over because of their people skills. Remember that. This is a career Firefighter/Paramedic talking.
