Does PWC have any 24/hr stations or do they mainly do daytime coverage for the volunteer stations?

Prince William has both, 24 hr. stations and 12 hour station which are 6 AM to 6PM. It depends on the Chief of the particular station and what type of coverage they feel they need.

The latest info i have is that PWC has been approved for 12 spots in the next class, likely to happen this year. That number is always subject to change of course.

Although the application process is still open I received my Firefighter Written Test notification email yesterday. There looks to be two testing dates both on May 5th. One at 8AM & the other at 2PM.

Academy to start in January :-)

idk about you men, but i'm getting excited.

The written isnt difficult at all. Its a pretty basic reading comprehension/grammer/math exam. If you made it through highschool without issue you will be fine. The PWC website has an exam prep guide if you are interested.

The CPAT is based on the national standard. Not crazy hard but dont underestimate the stair climber. Only about 40% of the people who passed the written exam made it through the CPAT during the last round of hiring.

Tough to say. It looks like the tentative plan is to put 2 recruit schools through in 2013, but of course that is always subject to change. Based on past classes i would say that the maximum for each class would be around 30 people. The current class only has 12 new hires, so you can see that it really all depends on the new budget.

Anybody heard what the timeline is after the written. Specifically dates for CPAT, poly's, etc?

The exact dates wont be announced until after the written. The sequence is (loosely) written, CPAT, medical, psych, poly, oral.

Seems to be a tentative schedule they want to stick with.

Definitely take advantage of the CPAT mentoring sessions and the practice runs if you live in the area. You will be surprised at the number of people who show up to take the CPAT unprepared. If you have never taken the test before it can be a real eye opener.

midazo is not kidding, if you've never taken the CPAT i would reccommend buying a weight vest and hitting the stairs.
