And they're coming in dated the 11th with a subject line of Fire Prevention & Safety but referencing the 2011 AFG app number. Looks like one glitch was fixed but another created, imagine that...
More than 11,000 apps getting Computer Denials.
Got mine for an ambulance, but I guess 2 out of three isn't bad.
I got dj'ed for ice rescue gear, did not get one for communication equipment.
All CDJs would have dropped at once. So if you didn't get one yet that means the other apps went to Peer. Disclaimer: unless there are more errors with their emailing application, in which case there could be more Comp DJs coming.
WVFD, I received my 1199's for my ops and regional over the past two weeks. Good luck with yours.
They are dropping in batches. Should last all day.
Thanks Brian - I'll go with your thought that you are saying there could be a chance for my department. Keeps me looking for an 1199 for a few more days at least.
Sly - now I just read that about batches - now I am confused as always.
Recieved our Turndown today. Hopefully we will get it next year. I dont understand why we cant get a grant for a pumper. We have 3 pieces of Firefighting apparatus and they are all over 35 years old. One is a brush truck and the other two are our engines. They are also open cab trucks. Just dont understand it. Congrats to all this years award winners!
Maybe it is just me personally but this is one of the most depressing days I have had in awhile. I have never seen this many computer DJs. I mean I know why but, that does not make it any easier of a pill to swallow for me or the departments I have had to call. Bartender pour me a triple!:o
Every grant I wrote this year got a DJ today:confused::mad:
I'm with you there, sucks to get denials in any quantity, but still happy we've got over 200 still in the game and on the pace to have more dough raised than any other year. But that would be the regionals picking up where the normal quantity of Ops apps are. A bunch are regional PPE and SCBA which will fill in where the Ops used to, but still postive outlooks overall. The game still exists, best apps were put out, there's no reason for anyone to be long term negative about it. Apps are so close in scoring that a denial doesn't mean anything could have been improved either, just means competition was tough.
Yes could not agree more here. Of course you also have to look at it this way too, the number of individual awards is down but with so many departments participating in the regionals the number of departments actually receiving money from the grant program this year is in reality probably higher than last year too.
Well this has been a bad grant year. This is the most computer DJ's I have ever gotten. I have several still in the running. Strange thing is most of these that did not make it past the computer are very simular to the ones that are still open. Had one that was a long shot but not understaning the others. Good Luck everyone.
If you want to nerd up like I did so many moons ago you can everyone's numbers against each other and see the differences. Couple of values here and there off by 1 will make the difference since there are so many apps. One year there were a few hundred apps just a half point off from making Peer. The game is that close, hence the reason those of us that pay our bills doing it spend so much time analyzing everything 6 ways from Sunday.
Well, can't say Im surprised. Just worked up the nerve to sign on and go look and both my vehicle and ops & safety were DJ'd. Guess I can't complain, did hook a nice regional for 2011, but still very much needing to replace a Water Tender thats 35 years old. This year marked attempt #8. Only made it to peer one time that I'm certain about....don't have the records from 2001 & 2002 so can't say if it did or didn't make peer then. I've been very fortunate with the program and had several awards, but it seems that an apparatus grant is the holy grail for me....just can't seem to make it happen.
2012 application period is just around the corner, I will certainly give it another try!
Still have an ops application open as of 17:44 EPT with no 1199A attached to it and have already received an award number for a vehicle grant pending announcement, but got DJ'd for one ops and one vehicle. So still a shot at batting .500, but even .250 in the majors ain't bad. I'll take it.
Brian, I may just have to nerd up like you did. Where'd you get the raw data?
