My husband and I are both hoping to take the test, & we are driving from El Paso. He has already gotten his test date but I have not yet (he did his app first, so I'm still hoping that I will get one!) - does anyone know (IF I get a test date) whether they would let us change it so we both test on the same day?

Does any one know what type of questions will be asked on the written exam? I studied alot for the Carrollton test I took and it seemed to be more about memorizing maps than anything else which I was not expecting and little to know math at all.

From this page: http://www.dallasfirerescue.com/details.htm
The written Civil Service Exam (2.5 hours) covers basic math skills, reading comprehension, ability to read and interpret maps/Mapsco, spelling, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.

Be sure when you turn your transcript in you have some sort of tracking number to go along with it. I just found out mine never made it and I didn't have a tracking number or anything to prove I sent it in so I'm not eligible to sit in for the test. Good luck to all of you.

A friend of mine that works there says they are hiring another 200 due to about half the dept being eligble to retire and about to start. Rumor is each station will now have 2 rookies.

@bopmychimbeech
That was my biggest fear with the whole application process. I ordered my transcript with no tracking, and then went back and ordered a second with tracking. Even though I paid twice, I felt much better being able to track when it got there, and who signed for it.

Did anyone go to the mentoring program on sat? It was a blast and a good workout if you did all the evolutions!
To anyone that goes in the future, make sure to take a gallon jug of water, i didnt bring enough. And bring a backpack or something to put your stuff in, I took off my hoodie and put everything in the pockets and when I came back it was wet. Just fyi

Wow..First I have heard the 200 people rumor.
I keep hearing 85 but that would be cool if they did another 200.
