I took the cpat on wednesday. I passed. Had around 22 folks show up to take the cpat. Around 8 passed. I think many underestimated the cpat. Now its a waiting game.

@TheHulk86, 13 more slots open up? Thats fantastic news.

Does anyone know the final number remaining seeing how the CPATS are completed?

I think they did too. That stairmaster is no joke with 70lbs. Even after practicing for a few months with my weight vest I was still gassed at the end of everything.

And yes right before I went the Captain was telling us 13 more spots opened up. So just remember patience is a virtue haha..3 weeks.

Awesome. That's about 100 that's getting hired. Id guess about 300 -350 remain, so thats pretty good odds. I hope they start calling soon!

I recall them saying that we needed letters of recomendation. Has anyone else turned them in to be added to your file yet? If so, who wrote them (relationship to yourself) and how many did you turn in?

That's interesting. I just assumed that they would aid in building a stronger file amongst the other applicants. Makes me wonder how they go about choosing who is and isn't going to be polygraphed. Work history? Accuplacer score/CPAT time? The two Dallas firefighters I know were hired with no prior experience or certs and I know there are guys with much more than that don't get the job. Seems like a little but of luck is involved. Maybe more so than any other factor. Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Thanks for the info Firebing

My friend said he has no idea how he was hired. He didn't do anything special. I believe it weighs heavily on the packet. If you write legibly with correct grammar and pucuation it paints a good pic of the person u r. Also fill it out as complete as u can, a bunch of "n/a" doesn't look good. Also I elaborated alot on the last two questions. With all that said I also think good ole life expierence helps.

Flew in from California for Poly (6/7) and CPAT (6/8). Passed both.
Since I was from out-of-town, the scheduled mine together so I only had to make 1 trip.

From what I was told by recruiting:

CPATs concluded 6/8(with a few reschedules due to bad weather)

I was told I won't hear anything for the next 6-8 weeks.

Not sure if polygraphs or reviews are the next step.

The DFR website says the next step is Review Panel, then Polygraphs.
Recruiting told me in person that Polygraphs will happen first, then Review Panel.

Hope this is somewhat helpful. Good luck to everyone still in the process.

I Heard similar except it was 3-4 weeks. They said to call if you if you hadn't heard anything by early July with the polygraphs coming before the interviews. This is what Iw as told on the last day of CPATS. Sounds about the same

I never saw anything mentioned about interviews. Is CPAT/Poly the end of the process or will there eventually be an interview?

I was told that the poly is the next step and everyone that is invited for the poly will receive a interview at some point. Not sure how accurate that is but thats what I was told.

Just finished the "Hero Rush" 5k! Great event and some really good obstacles. We saw a lot of local fire departments come out and run.

I'm assuming no one has heard anything yet? At least that's what I'm hoping seeing as I haven't lol. Any inside info on the remaining number of applicants? Thanks in advance.

I felt like the first steps flew by, but now the waiting is brutal. I don't know what seems like it's taking longer....the birth of my son in early Aug., or waiting for a phone call on my poly.

Heard from a fellow candidate that they have begun making cuts already. He had some drug history that they didn't like and was removed from the process. He called and they told him that. Anyone else know of DQ's or poly schedules yet?

I haven't called yet, but I haven't heard anything. I was told to wait till July to call to see if you were still eligible. Getting close so I'll probably call next week.
