Hub Cap, I've been to Mack, American LaFrance, Seagrave, Maxim, Pirsch, KME, Oren, Pierce, Emergency One, Baker Equipment, Hale Products, Waterous, Red Head Brass, Elkhart Brass, Akron Brass, Snap-Tite, Marion to name a few, on business, with camera in hand.

At no time was I told I could not take any photos of vehicles on the building line, or the ready for delivery line. I also had permission, not only take them but, to publish them, with proper credit given.

I fail to see where your problems come in about posting photos.

Relax, John. It wouldn't have been an issue except that you visited Pierce. Had you said you visited Toyne, the same people would be gushing praise and patting you on the back for your wise decision.

Regarding the pictures, you won't get in any trouble if you post them. The only builder that used to ban cameras was E-1 and they haven't done that in years. There isn't much chance that you got any pictures of anything proprietary or even close to the R&D area at Pierce.

Nah, if he really wanted to impress us he would have just gotten back from the Hahn plant and seen equipment under construction. Now THAT would have been cool!

We've had GOOD luck with ours. Of course we spent quite a lot of time on how we wanted them laid out and on our spec chassis.

I appreciate at least one person that has the ability to converse like an adult. The decision to not post pics is mine, and I don't care if people don't like it. It's just a personal decision of mine to not post pics of someone else's property, business, house, or any other thing that isn't visible to the general public. I just don't think it's my business to do it. I will post pics when we get out truck delivered though. I just don't get the attitude from some of these people. My original intent was to just post that it was a pleasant and positive experience. If guys like other trucks better, fine. Extol the virtues of whatever you like. To me it's like comparing pickups or cars. I'm a Pierce man.

    Default No Pictures

I remember in 2006 and 2007 a builder had a conniption and a coronary when someone published photos of the stock piled pre-emission engines.
The powers that are were bent out of shape because the big boys saw how many engines we had on the shelves. They were pigeon holed and secretaries were using them as chairs. They were bent when I took pictures and I was a representative. I am sure the big boys were doing the EXACT same thing.

Some small manufacturers may not have a R & D building so they ask not to have pictures taken or they do certain thinks to "hide" trade secrets. I know of one such manufacturer. If you need pictures of anything just ask your sales representative and I am sure they will get you what ever you want. That way they are sanitized. As for Appleton I am guessing they at least have some secure areas and if I remember correctly there was a photo of the door to "Area 51"

Pal, I don't know who pulled you tampon string. Okay, you didn't say I worked for Pierce, but you did lie and say I worked for Findley, one of their dealers. Just semantics. I don't know who your "source" is for that infomation is, but they are full of crap. If you don't like Pierce trucks, fine. You can like what ever brand you want. Present an arguement for whatever brand you like. I'm not here to sell anything to anybody, just presenting my experience. Yes, in MY experience, Pierce trucks are the best, your mileage may vary.

I'd like to think there are grown professionals here that would like to discuss fire service related topics. If you or any one else want to do that I'd be more than happy to oblige you. But if you're going to resort to lies and name calling, please save it for someone else.

Like I said, it's my personal decision. To me, it would be like coming to your house and taking pics and then posting them on the web. You may not care, but I think it's inappropriate for me to do so. I try and respect others' privacy. It's why I would never take a photo of a victim. Besides, as has been said, there's other places to see similar photos.

Some of you guys just don't give Pierce and one of their spokesmen (although he is Not a dealer!) the proper respect! I'm happy to say that I have also toured Pierce's fine facilities in Appleton, drank lots of Kool-Aid, eat some fine steaks at George's, etc. Even took some pictures in the plant but don't know what I did with them. And best of all, we didn't even go with their bid. Oh well, maybe next time but I don't need another trip to Wisconsin.

I call you cupcake, you call me Pal. I would say there cuppy we are about even there.

Anyways, I don't recall saying ANYTHING negative about Pierce. Personally I think the best piece of equipment is one that is backed up well by a local dealer. Probably the reason I don't drive a Maserati MC Sport. Ok, one of many reasons I don't drive one.

Without service after the sale every manufacturer is toast.

Insofar as lies? I only have what I am told by a rep of that company. They sure seem to think you work there. Perhaps there is confusion on their part - so I will drop it. You want details PM me, and I will consider it.

Please define BEST. Ya, MY mileage does vary. Do they build a nice vehicle? Yes. But there are others building equal or better depending on what you want and how you want to do it. BEST is a VERY subjective view. T.C.

Privacy? If Pierce or any other apparatus maker didn't want you there, you wouldn't be there. They have always told me, any thing I shot was OK with them to post. If they have something secret, you are not going to see it or even hear about it.

You can always look on Pierce's web site and see the delivery's that has been photoshop on the back ground!!

You would be welcome to come to my fire house and shoot the apparatus photos and post them.

I take photos of fire apparatus.

These are some I took at the Pierce Plant in Appleton.

The white vehicles went to the ATF!

The desert tan went to Kuwait.

There were no secrets with these. Having said that they did have in production some vehicles that were, and were kept out of site of the customers, which were secret!

    .
I dig those tan trucks. That is a very unusual color.

    johnsb,

    Let's recap shall we?

    1) You came on here after a supposed visit to Pierce's manufacturinf facility talking about trucks you saw for import to China and pictures you took.

    2) When asked why you didn't post the pictures you posted some absolute horse schitt about secrecy and not wanting to cause Pierce any problems.

    3) When told by almost everyone here that there were no secets where you were or Pierce wouldn't have let you take pictures you refused to listen and posted some more absolute horse schitt.

    4) The you post an absolutely immature post ranting and raving about "nah ner, nah ner I am not posting the pictures." (frankly who gives a flying schitt, anything you took pictures of most likely can be seen in the recent deliveries section at Pierce's website)

    5) When you are caught posting as an employee of a Pierce dealership you just go farthe off the deep end. You deny it, but hinestly I believe you are an employee of a Pierce dealership. Funny how when I was selling firre apparatus the first thing I did was come on FH.com and tell EVERYONE that I was a salesman, I did the same type of announcement when I stopped selling apparatus too. Honesty still is the best policy.

    6) While I don't drink the kool-aid, I have no axe to grind with Pierce. I just get so damn tired of the "Pierce uber alles" attitude of the fanatics. We have 2 Pirece egines where I work and they are nice engines, not perfect as they have spent their time in the shop in their first year dealing with warranty issues, but very nice engines.

    firepundit,

This really had nothing to do with the supposed Pierce hatred you are insinuating. It had to do with telling someone the premise of why he wouldn't post his pictures he took at Pierce was nonsense and him getting all ****y about it. It really was that simple.
