Hi all just wanted to get some feedback on eye protection during EMS runs. Our SOG states safety glasses or helmet. Problem is I wear bifocals and the standard issued safety glasses don't fit over my glasses and my shield on my helmet is worn and IMHO the helmet gets in the way dealing with pt's.
Can anyone recomend a set of decent safety glasses that will fit over glasses?

I don't know the name of the brand we use but ours also came with a set of frames that went inside the safety glasses. I went to my eye doctor and got a set of lenses that went into the frames. I imagine bifocals would work in them as well. Is this what you are talking about?
That would be great. I was thinking of a pair that went over my normal glasses that would actually fit, but I have no problem getting some that have my prescription integral to them.
We don't have to wear glasses, but we have them if we need them. We also have the splash shields with the masks if we need them. That might be a good option for you. 90% of runs probably have no danger of anything getting in your eyes. Auto accidents and the like are the obvious exceptions, and other than some bloody trauma, we just don't have to whip them out much. A helmet seems a bit extreme.
The safety glasses that schools often use in science labs would probably work nicely - and they're intended to be worn with or without glasses.
Under MIOSHA, your employer should be providing you with proper PPE. That said, there are many types of OTG (Over The Glasses) safety glasses available. Pyramex makes some good ones that fit over modern smaller glasses and don't look like bus windshields.
