Hi guys, I saw this posted in another thread, and wanted to ask around on the FL forum. Has anyone been successful (or unsuccessful) at getting a FF job in FL while having a BK on your credit report?
Or do most depts in FL not do credit checks?
Thanks in advance.

I may be screwed then. I'm contemplating filing due to the foreclosure on our house. Our house lost 1/2 of it's value and I got a job offer out of state so I took it.
I dont know what else to do BUT file bankruptcy.Last edited by Want2BAFF.; 02-10-2012 at 05:11 PM.

Calm down. Before I answer your question I have to say that I've read many of your posts and it sounds like you need to stop worrying over everything so much. I have never been in your shoes, I was lucky to get a job right out of school and before I had a family but there are many people like you. I know quite a few that have recently got a job, so, as long as you don't have a DUI or people buried in your yard, take a deep breath and relax.
Out of all the departments I applied for (sure it's been 12+ years) only the Town of Palm Beach did a credit check. Still to this day though, I can't name any others that do. Are they out there yes, are there TONS of people in the same boat as you, YES. Should you worry about it, NO. Why, because everyone understands that this is a very difficult time and THOUSANDS of people are losing their good credit because they have lost jobs or taken pay cuts. The only people who aren't affected are the 18-20 year olds that still live with mom and dad. Guess what, a lot of places don't want them because of maturity levels. You'll get a chance explain your story. If your going to cry about doing the job you signed up for do us all a favor and quit, there are plenty of dedicated people standing in line for the best job in the world.

What Firemedic 61 said. And to ease your mind a bit more, I know of 3 guys that got hired with a bankruptcy or a foreclosure. Times are tough.

Your welcome. Also, just know that your background info is given to the psychiatrist and when you go for your psych test this one of the things that they will ask you about. Just relax and tell them the truth.
