Does anyone have a Helmet Camera, or have experience with these? We think it would be great to throw a few of them on a few of our most active guys' helmet's, but the 900* Rating for "Short Periods of time" Concerns me. I realize not every fire is 900*, but we don't wan't to lose a 300$ camera over something we can't help. Maybe I'm being over cautious. Does anyone have any experience on this? How they hold up? I'm looking at this camera here...

I wouldn't worry too much if your main concern is the temp rating. We can't survive long at those temps either.

It's what others see...
While helmet cams can record the great (and sometimes heroic) things we do, they don't differentiate. They record the stupid stuff, too.
And that's what usually shows up on YouTube...

No ideas or suggestions for your question but you gave me a great idea for training this weekend. Thanks.

I have a small wireless camera setup that I can record to my laptop. We're having RIT training this weekend so I'm going to attach it to a helmet and record some of the evolutions. There won't be sound but I'm also going to have a camcorder for that. And yes there is a strong chance that it will be put on youtube.

I understand that they record stupid things aswell. But thats almost what were looking for. If we can record the good things people do, but also critique the bad things, It can do nothing but help us.

If your helmet is exposed to 900 F I'd think the camera will be the least of your worries. 900F at the ceiling is one thing, but where you head is? Not so good.
