    Default DOD Fire Agility test

Hey, I recently applied for my dream job..It says I'm going to need to complete an agility test before I'm hired. I was just wondering what the test entails. is it the CPAT, or some hybrid version of it i.e stair climb equipment carry ladder raise hose and dummy drag? or is it something totally different. I just want to be prepared as best as possible in the event that they call my name.

I've looked in the archives here, and on DODfire.com and can't really find anything other then new employees need to take an agility test.

    Thanks everyone.

As I stated in a PM to Griff.....When I came on board in 1994, there were no agility tests. The Dept of the Navy gave an extremely thorough physical screening. I guess at the time, it was assumed if you passed the screening, you were good enough. Later in my career, IIRC beginning approx 2003, the Chief of the FD I was assigned at the time (an army facility) began to mandate every FF go through a yearly agility test- something like 10 or 12 stations- the usual- hit the weighted tire, climb the aerial, raise the ground ladder, pull the charged line, drag the dummy, etc.

Everyone does it differently, some don't test at all... At my station we have the grinder. If you want something straing D.o.D from the D.o.D Fire academy YOUTUBE search Firefighter PT or Goodfellow Fire Acadmey.

dvaldez5 is correct. All different DoD components (Navy, Army, Marines & Air Force) do it differently. I would suggest practicing at the CPAT and you should do good. Back in '85 trying to get in the U.S. Forest Service I had to do a step test. In '89 trying to get on a Navy Base I had to do a test with sandbags and a dolly!
