Absolutely no intention of coming up with ways to fund the previous positions that were funded by welfare program. They can't even afford the unemployment cost when they lay them off.

Can't agree more. It just illustrates the failure of the system. Hopefully in January if the program survives the new president can put SAFER back together as it was intended. No welfare, if your community decided to lay off firefighters your community deals with the repercussions. If you need a hand-up to put more firefighters on the streets SAFER will help for the first 4 years.

Talk about not having a continuation plan in place... So if they get the grant they buy another 2 years and then what? Back to the well a third time? At some point they are going to get a very rude awakening.

Just more proof of how badly broken the SAFER program is.

if that get the additional money it will just make me sick!
