I'll cut to the point then track back on my story. When does the chief usually call to schedule an interview? Pretty much what is happening right now is that I'm waiting on a call for the final chief interview. It's been about 2 and a half weeks since I've taken my polygraph, and I'm sure to be ranked high on the list because I was several slots above the projected hire. This is a small fire department but they've always been speedy with the process before. They informed me that I was going to be notified sometime by the end of last week but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm just looking for a few words of advice or a gut check. All posts are appreciated.

Don't pray for patience becasue you will be tested.
Often these things take longer than anyone anticipates. Past hiring processes don't count. If you had failed you would probably have found out by know. So, be cool and stay off the phone.______________________________ _______________

I'm with Capt. Bob. Stay off the phone! I know it's hard, but you'll be informed one way or the other in due time. Post if you get the call!
Best,

We have plenty of things to do each and every day. Hiring new firefighters is just one of them. In fact, it's quite time intensive and all of our other "work" has to be put on hold. We have reduced our office staff to keep people on fire engines and we are trying to keep the department running. I have a suspicion that the fire chief is burried and hiring is just another important pile on his desk that he needs to get to.
I agree with the others. Be patient!
Good luck. I hope it works out for you,

Thanks for the advice chief. The wait is indeed difficult but I know the outcome will be worth it.

I'm right there with ya man. I'm sitting 3rd now after this dept hired 6 and in talking to most of the guys they say that between April and August I'll be getting hired. So trust me I know about being patient.
