If this is anything like working at the Atlanta airport it sounds like a terribly boring job.

@gtcaptain2 I plan to sign up for it...

@centerjeep22 Actually it sounds like they do quite a bit of EMS stuff, so you might not be as bored as you think. DFW airport is huge and always has a ton of people there.

Anyone know how their process will work since they are not civil service? Do they have a written test for everyone or just take the people they want to the test?

apply online, they will send you personal history form, once they review that and they have everything, they will schedule you for the written, then physical, then poly, background, oral, etc....

DFW Airport Fire Rescue is a great f.d. to work for! We run a lot more calls, mutual aid calls, and have a lot to offer than most other airport f.d.'s.

I just applied for DFW Airport Fire Rescue and submitted my personal history statement, certifications, and application. I will receive the email tomorrow regarding the written exam. pewter98 can you tell me about their fire academy. I don't currently have my TCFP but I do have my state of Texas EMT. I did my Fire Academy in California.

Check out several of my post on this thread. It has a lot of detailed info. on what new hires should expect within the first year of being hired:

    http://www.firehouse.com/forums/t117759/ (DFW airport FD (Tx))

As far as your fire academy, have you contacted the TCFP in Austin, TX to see if your basic fire academy certification from California will transfer and be accepted by the TCFP?
