TFD recruiting for a list to be used after July 2012. This department has not hired in years.
FYI new requirement of having Arizona EMT-B at the closing date of 3/30/12. I can't apply due to this but want to pass along.
If you have an AZ EMT-B or can get one by March 30th, look into it. Great department, great city! There is nothing like the magic of the Sonoran Desert and Southern Arizona in general.
Good luck to those who are interested. http://www.tucsonaz.gov/sigma/JobDet...?Postings=4440

That's a bummer about needing the Arizona EMT. Cuts A LOT of people out of the running though for those who meet the requirements. Good luck to those who do!

^^Nice name!
Anyway, I heard Tucson is hiring around 35 guys. April 11th is the test day from what I understand. Sounds like they are making this a quick process. I am not sure on when the academy is though.

Don't put all of your eggs in a basket on TFD. They will only be hiring if they get a grant. My husband is on the department and I work EMS with them. He has been on for 5 years and has never gotten a raise. We have taken furloughs for 2 years which has came out to about a $5000 reduction in pay per year for us. They have temporarily stopped the furloughs, but that is only because by law they had to. They are expected to be starting up again shortly. We take home maybe $1200 if we are lucky after taxes. Expect a really messed up city government who says they support you, but really don't give a squat about you. Expect many frequent flyers and system abusers for use taxpayers money to go in for detox for the 12th time, or for a toothache. That is what you are getting into.
