Anybody here testing next week for KCK FD? Also anyone here have any details about how many they are hiring this round for the July class or even off of this list? Any input would be appreciated.

Just saw this, I was there today, surprised at the low number of applicants. If they are really taking 10, the chances are going to be good.

Hiring around 8-10 and I believe they initially had around 70 applicants. Very low for two reasons.

1.) Hiring only medics
2.) Busy department and you are stuck on the ambulance for 5-10 years. The low number is 5 because if you make driver then you get taken off the ambulance.

For new medics who've been on for a couple of years, do you get to rotate on the engine/pumpers at all? Don't know how I could last 5-10 yrs on the box w/ no breaks.

Very cool. Well good luck to those that went through with the testing. I planned on attending but ran into a roadblock with Kansas Board of EMS. I am a nationally registered paramedic and have been for the past 5 years with full time paid fire service experience. They did not grant me reciprocity because my medic program's internship was 300 hours long and Kansas requires their medic progams to do 360 hours of internship time. I'm wondering if this may have kept many people from applying or from testing. Kind of crap to me but I can't do much about it. Again good luck to those continuing on!!
