Aurora CO lateral-2012

Anybody have info on the lateral position. How many? Are they taking anyone from the last list? I heard they want a May academy and possibly one later in the year. Seems like a solid dept from what I hear. If anyone that works there, what it like?

I applied also. I heard the last open lateral recruiting they had 600+ applicants. We'll see how it goes. I also heard it's a great department.

I applied then as well, it was open for 3-4 months so I think thats one of the reasons they got so many. It was only open a month this time so hopefully our chances are better. It said they want a May academy which seems really fast to put one together. Let me know if you hear something.

My question is why are they going through this process again being they just tested laterals late last year?

What type of offer are you talking about? The letter saying she was approved by the commission or an actual job offer? That's pretty crazy considering applications were still accepted until the 6th. What was her process? Interview, poly, psych, medical?

Will do, the only thing I've heard so far is that I passed the screening process and that my resume was forwarded on to the fire department.

That's the same thing I heard nick. I wonder if she was off the last list and thats why she got an offer.

I still don't get would do 2 lateral hiring processes, something go wrong with last one?

If you follow this link it gives some insight on the hiring process. It looks like they are looking for protected class recruits(women and minorities). It says of the last academy 3 of 7 were protected and all 7 of 7 laterals were protected class as well.

However I did hear they are looking for more paramedics and putting on possibly 2 academies this year. I think to have an academy the number of laterals has to be equal or less than the number of entry level ff.

She's from the last list her academy is in may.

Got an email today saying I'm not being considered for the May academy but that I may be contacted for a list for fall 2012.

Just got an email stating that the lateral hiring process has started again, and is accepting apps until Dec. 31st. Quite a long time to be accepting apps. Spoke to a lady with the civil service, and she says an academy will be starting January 2013.

I know this thread is for laterals, but FYI they will be taking apps for entry level in the very near future as well.

Just curious if anyone has heard anything from Aurora FD on lateral status. I put my app in back in May. Haven't heard anything, yet. I know there is still two and a half months worth of waiting until the deadline, but I just wanted to see if anyone has heard or maybe in the same boat.
