Just wanted to give a shout out to Chief E. for a pic he sent, and a Thank You.
What I found out about it. It was a Ward LaFrance and it was the last red truck ordered in the early '70's before a new Chief was installed. After that, they were cream colored, and then yellow, by another Chief. The current Chief went back to the traditional red and white scheme.
It served as a front line rig through the mid to late '80s, then a reserve until '94. A couple retired FF's couldn't remember if it had a shaft or chain driven pump. All have said that it came with a roof, and that the current Chief had them removed (roofs). Nobody could say why, for sure. There were 3 ordered and delivered at the same time.
I've still got some feelers out there getting some info/history of it. So I may have an update later.
Thanks again Chief, and thank the person for their time and effort.
PS: I scanned it to a 1,700p x 1,100p jpeg if you want me to send it to you.
