Default Average scores on written exam?

Is there info on what the average score is on the written exam.

I just took my first exam (Reading, Pa) and there were maybe 6-7 questions that I wasn't sure of. After talking to others I think I got some of those correct. This was out of 80 questions.

I am hoping to make the the top 75 but not sure if that will cut it out of 400 applicants. I feel for everyone in the same situation!

You need to be making in the top 90's or as near to 100 as you can get. Making in the 70's will not get you hired. Remember if you settle for 75% as being correct, that means that you are 25% wrong all the time.

This job you can't 1% wrong or you will be hurt, killed or hurt or kill other members.

It's totally dependent on what test/area/applicant pool. I've scored in the low to mid 90's and that's put me everywhere from the top 20 to the 700's. Don't worry about averages. See what you got on the first one and then improve from there. Capt. Old Timer is right, strive for a perfect score with every test you take.

Strive for perfection. I can tell you from testing at numerous departments over the last year + you have to crack that 95% barrier. Like Capt says "You need to be making in the top 90's or as near to 100 as you can get." Remember...sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do in order to be successful.
