    Default Coeur d'Alene Fire Department

This test is fast approaching on May 1st. Anyone else headed over for the test and know how many they are hiring. I have heard it is a fast growing department!

This is a great department. I went through their process 2 years ago, I passed the test by .2% and ended up being #5 on the list. I called every few months to check if they were hiring. The day after I got my final offer here on the west side of the mountains they called and invited me to the Chiefs. The HR lady said at that time they were hiring 3 maybe more, that was in August 2011. From ride alongs and visits I know this is a great department. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Congrats on getting up so high on the list. Are you giving it another go around or are you already a firefighter there now? Do you know what test they use? Not asking for specifics just the standardized test like the public safety or fire team. Civil service seems so broad.

Not sure how many they will be hiring, but I know they've lost 3 to Spokane in the last 8 months, probably have to at least replace those.

I declined the Chief's interview because I got hired by another department the day before. They used FPSI the same as Boise if you took that. Pretty straight forward. A lot of guys failed the physical though, it was tough.

Just checking in to see how everyone thinks they did on the test. Sounds like there are 0 vaccancies but its a two year list. My guess is there were about 200 that took the test. How many do they usually move forward with? My guess is top 20-30 but that is just purely a guess and based on how other departments generally do work.

Two years ago they took 45-50 to the physical and they lost 15- 20 there. I remember the final list was 30 or so. The physical was tough, definitely some technique to it.

I felt pretty good about the test. I've practiced the physical and it is much harder but definetely doable. The real challenge comes with the oral board and where guys will get the job.

Moving on in the process with 57. Good luck everyone!

KCFF84- Pretty amazing how you did so well on the oral board to move up from the bottom to the top. Any tips on this specific oral board or what to expect? I know I have to get past the physical but have done well with the challenging ones in the state already (Tacoma, Moses Lake)
