They did 2nd level tech review on over 500 apps during Peer, and a couple of ours already got emails requesting letters from the governmental bodies ensuring that no layoffs would occur during the 2 year POP. No 1199As yet though. They're aiming to get those that are in scoring range and have a layoff that already happened or will happen by July 1st awarded ASAP so they can avoid the pink slips then rehiring Oct 1st when the award would kick in since there's a delay in reimbursement coverage. R&R will be later in the game.

Thanks BC79er, couple ?'s,
So grant might potentially not rehire personnel until Oct. 1?
Whats the story on delays in reimbursement coverage?
We are ready sent a letter confirming we will not layoff anymore during POP. If we get awarded do we get a chunk on money and then rehire personnel and submit for paymants as we got?
Sorry so many questions never done a Safer grant before, lots of confusion on how it works. thanks Willie

It depends on when it's awarded, usually there's a quarter delay in the POP to the 1st of the next full quarter. So normally things awarded in the 2nd quarter wouldn't start until the 4th quarter, but I think there have been some efforts to bump that up since July 1st is the new fiscal when many are already scheduled for the layoffs to happen. If the POP isn't until Oct 1st then the layoffs will have to happen for 3 months.
Hiring is done on a reimbursement basis with actual costs. So you'll have to enter names and SSNs of who was paid what during the quarter and then submit it for reimbursement.

Tis a good sign for sure. I only had 1 layoff prevention, rest were all adding positions which was 2nd fiddle. That one was asked to send in the same letter so probably not far off from an 1199A. Of course sounds like everything is going to drop fast since they want to have 2012 SAFER in July for a mega-Peer Review with AFG 2012 in August then get AFG back on track for March/April. Not holding my breath but would be nice to avoid my 2 weeks at Guard every year. Will be out in the middle of AFG this year if the app period holds true...

Oddly enough, have an R & R that dropped early in the game this year. It dropped either Thursday or Friday, haven't had computer access since Wednesday.
