If you care about having the most qualified firefighters in your local firehouse and not those who fit some social engineers utopian vision, get educated, get involved, get active and communicate your concerns to your local elected representatives.
They will try to silence you...they will call you every name in the book...they will try to pull the race card that has been so overplayed it is now a punchline. You have every right and expectation of being treated equally before the law.
Never forget equal opportunity doesn't require equal outcomes.

I've said this for a number of years now and it still holds true.............
It's pretty sad that in a Country that figured out how to land on the moon (more than 40 years ago now), the only solution we seem to be able to find regarding "discrimination" (whether intentional or not) is blatant discrimination in another direction.

I like how it looks like NYC is fighting the judge's overboard decisions. I just find it funny that these people can say these things about blacks not being able to do well on written tests. It sounds like what the klan is saying about blacks, just without as much profanity.
I've said it before, and still think a study of outcomes for equally qualified individuals who score high enough to be reachable on a competitive civil service list, minority candidates and female candidate probably do just as well or even better than whites and/or males.
