A union rep will take care of all that extra stuff once you get to a station. Beside, majority of the time traffic doesn't even respect it if it isn't at your station.

Everybody didn't get called by the same person, I heard the most recent class started the day after the last one...

Does anyone know when I join FDNY EMS how long I must be EMS until I am able to be promoted? What if im not eligible to be promoted when the test date in announced but I will be eligible by the time of hire to firefighter? Any advice on this?

I figure I can get hired by FDNY-EMS by the end of 2014-- Do you think I can take the promotion test right after im hired??

12 months on EMS before being able to promote. Have to have 12 months on by the time of app closing date not hire date. Promotion exam used to be every 2 years currently every 4 that may change last I heard. The hiring process for FDNY is a very long process I would say appx. a year to a year and a half.

This is almost entirely incorrect. It has been stated correctly in other places. The day you become a civil service EMT or paramedic you can take the exam. You must have completed your probationary period in EMS and served a minimum of 2 years.

I was merely going off of the information that was provided for me at both Metro Tech and the EMS academy.

Could you possibly quote this minimum 2 years on? All I could find is must hold a permanent position.
