FDNY EMT Exam #2004

For everyone who filled to become an EMT for FDNY in the fall (2011). List numbers came in last week, figured this would be a good thread for everyone to determine how long they have to wait for the academy. Spoke to an EMT from FDNY today who graduated from the last class. He waited two years with a hiring freeze, would of been shorter if not for that. A class just went in this week, with another one going in July, and another after that class is done.Ems is also expecting to be 700 down with many EMT'S becoming Firefighters with the promo exam. My list number is 5xx. For the threads sake I'll keep my process updated.

I got the bare minimum of 70. List 1000's. How did they put the list number in order for all the people who got the 70 for just having the EMT card. Also this will be a long wait I say we start processing next year around this time

i wouldnt put list numbers on here. that list number is genuine to you, you are easily identifiable by DCAS etc. just be cautious.

With the list of 3** how much EMT experience did you have?

I have 2 Years stand by and 2 years 911 with fire. Neither one counted. Having Hazmat Ops is what bumped my score.

On my experience test paper I put down Firefighter 1, which has Hazmat Operations included in the class and HAZMAT-Technician Basic. I also put down 6 months private ambulance experience and a year and a half volunteer EMS experience. I ended up getting a 70 for my score, does this sound right? Should I even bother writing in and challenging my score?

I lucked out with my list number, out of the two people I keep in contact with from my cert course one had a list number in the thousands, the other in the seven hundreds. With 5xx, I scored the bare minimum with the 70. For the record when I asked an EMT with FDNY he said now is the best time to apply, should be a steady flow of classes going in to the academy.

I would challenge bro. I don't know the process. But if it means getting where you want sooner, by all means.

Ever have a city job, or go through the city hiring process?
It's a hurry up and wait game. Don't hold your breath I estimate our exam will start processing next year. It's the city anything can change. Just don't put all your eggs in one bumpy basket

It's worth a shot. I had a year of volly and I got a 70

I was thinking about challenging since I didnt get as many points as I thought I would. Has anyone figured out how to find out what they actually gave you credit for? Ex: Hazmat ops, EVOC, Res.? I am getting nowhere fast calling them.

Letters letting people know when their in the academy? BTW 871 people took the promo exam to become a firefighter. Great news for everyone regardless of you list number. Join FDNY also said they plan on hiring people (EMT) come fall 2012. Hopefully I cross paths with some of you sometime soon at the Rock.
