I then purchased 1000 plain "VFD" maltese cross stickers from a Fire Department graphics supply house (cost: $17.50). I then painted said pooper scoopers with some "Fire Protection Red" spray paint (one case: $48.67) and applied the "VFD" maltese cross stickers to the now-fire protection red pooper scoopers. I then obtained a table at the Pennsylvania Fire Expo in Harrisburg for expo weekend (cost: $300.00) and marketed them as "Official VFD Dalmatian Pooper Scoopers" for $37.50 each. They sold out halfway through Saturday (day 2) of the show. I figure if I do 6 or 8 more shows I'll be set for life.

    My investment: $636.29
    Total sales: $37,500

I'm curious what a "Drafting Trailer" is stocked with.

We carry about 30 feet of 5 inch hard suction, and 2 different varieties of strainers on our engine and 2 lengths of 2 1/2 inch hard suction, a 2000 gallon fold-a-tank, a strainer and a float pump on our 1750 gallon tanker.

What more do you really need? My experience is limited to my own department on this so I'm really curious.

If that's all you're trying to do you don't need the actual force needed to penetrate sheetrock, you need the resistance force used on the CPAT "breach and pull" station. AFAIK, it's 60# force for the breach, 80# force for the pull at the point of operation. (The amount of weight needed on your stack to achieve that will depend on how you configure the leverage.)

Good luck! The machines run about $5K but I'm sure you can put together a useful training simulator for much less.

I could be wrong, but I think you transposed the sign on your angular velocity calcs.

Whether or not they do is not germain. The moral of the story is that if a Volly has $37.50 they will buy a red pooper scooper with a "VFD" maltese cross sticker on it.

Having been to the Harrisburg show the last 4 years (and going again in a few weeks).....I have to agree. They will buy it.

The same amount it takes to send a doorknob through it. Ask my 4 year old, he has it all figured out.

It's not the fact that they were volunteers. It's the fact that they are idiots with $37.50 to waste, and that they happen to be idiots who are volunteers.

I get tired of all volunteers being painted with the idiot brush.

the volunteer fire service sure has a propensity for buying "fire service" junk. From those stupid plastic wedges to lame 100 function multi tools, my volunteer friends buy that stuff up at much higher rates than career guys.

We all know a few whackers, no doubt. But FWD is implying that because he found a bunch of idiot volunteers willing to blow money on something stupid, that all volunteers are just that stupid, and it's not the case.

3 sections of 6" hard suction
    Turbo draft
    Low level strainer w/jet siphon
    6" strainer
    5K generator w/wheel kit
    2 4000 gal. fold-a-tank
Honda trash pump (notice, it's not a FIRE pump) no wheels
4 sections of 4" hard suction and strainer for trash pump.
    1000w light
    assorted hose and fittings

And nothing in the station to haul it.
