    Default Class A Uniforms

Our department is deciding on Class A uniforms and we have everything settled except for what style of hats to order. Some want bell style and some want naval style. This seems like a simple thing but our department can only afford to do this once.

For those of you that have departments that issue/wear Class A uniforms, what are your thoughts? Are their advantages/disadvantages to each? Is it a regional thing?

    Thank you for your input.

Bell type is the traditional head wear. The bus driver hat is an ok one.

To me the Naval style is kind of plain, it's what we have on my full time dept. I like the more traditional style myself.

As much as I like the Philadelphia Fire dept. I don't like their uniform hats. Looks like they got a deal from a service station hat supplier years back.

Uniform hats are part of the uniform, therefore they should be worn. You all don't think the US Military would not wear a uniform hat, aka cover, with their uniform, would you?

fire5555 - Got to have "cover". It's like dressing up for the prom with no shoes.

CaptOldTimer - I thought like you, "What no cover". We looked like cops, bus drivers, or milk men, in my early years, till we changed to the bell top hat.
